4 Signs Your Marketing Isn't Working for Your Health & Wellness Brand
Sep 04, 2020As a movement, healthcare, or wellness professional, you may have started your business with a misconception in mind:
If you build it, they will come.
How’s that working out for you? Most times, I talk to female professionals who are struggling to get more people in the door and they don’t know what to do. They’re frustrated because they know their services and skillset are what people need… but people just aren’t coming.
If you can relate to that, this is a sign your marketing isn’t working, and you need to be doing something else. Like actually marketing your business.
Are you actually marketing your services?
In this recent Facebook Live, I talked about signs that your marketing isn’t working for you. But after I recorded it, I had a lot of people saying they didn’t have a marketing strategy at all — and I totally get that.
I didn’t either, until I had a multi-million dollar business… and realized I needed more clients and in-studio bookings ASAP. I don’t want you to get to that point, or to struggle to find even one client. So we really need to talk about marketing and some of the signs that you DO need it.
Signs you need a marketing strategy (or a better one)
The biggest sign that you’re not marketing or you need better marketing is your client or patient load. If you’re also not seeing as many clients or patients as you want, it’s time to get out there and let people know how they can work with you.
Often, though, professionals have a few people trickling in the door, so they’re not too worried about marketing (yet). Then, all at once, it can feel like those leads (interested patients or clients) dry up, and you’re stuck twiddling your thumbs. I don’t want you to get to that point, so here are some other signs your marketing isn’t working for you:
- You can't seem to book clients who do come your way, or the ones you book aren’t a good fit. Whether that means your clients aren’t really in the right condition to need your help, or you don’t click with them well, a bad fit can be just as frustrating as no clients.
- You aren't having conversations with people on social media. Are you active on social? Are you connecting with people and following/liking their content? If not, I have a few tips for you on how to market on social media (without spending a dime).
- You've got clients now, but need to start filling up your calendar in the coming months. Really look at your client list or your current schedule and see what’s going on. Are you booked? Do you have a ton of openings? It’s time to start finding ways to market your services so you’re having conversations, you’re getting people in the door, and you’re booking up.
These are just a few of the signs that you really need to start marketing now, or improve your current marketing efforts. One of the biggest things I see professionals do is put all their marketing eggs in the social media basket. If algorithms change, you may find yourself losing leads and losing ground.
Why not mix up your marketing strategy? Try:
- Email marketing
- Live and recorded video
- Podcasts and press
- Blogs and content
- Different social platforms
- Private Facebook communities
- Ads
- Opt-ins and freebies
- … the list goes on.
Of course, you might not know which of those to try, and I think it’s highly specific to where you’re currently at in your marketing. Instead of breaking that all down for you here, I have a resource for you!
