Hey there, I’m Christa Gurka.

I know I just said I’d give you a kick in the pants, so you’re probably thinking, “Who does this lady think she is??” That’s fair. Let me explain.

The real Christa Gurka

On the surface, I am an Orthopedic Physical Therapist specializing in Pilates-based rehabilitation. I own, operate and teach at Pilates in the Grove, which serves the Coconut Grove and South Miami communities with two (soon to be three!) premier South Florida locations. 

Our studios set the benchmark in Pilates instruction and physical therapy interventions in our local community.

But there is so much more to my story.

What started out as a passion has evolved into a profession with a purpose. 

I went from an Orthopedic Physical Therapist to CEO of a 5-million dollar company.

But it wasn’t always sunshine and lollipops. It wasn’t through sheer luck or talent that I ended up living the best life I can either.

I used to think that hard work and hustle would build the life that I thought I wanted. But then I got there… scaled to multiple six figures, expanded to a second location and still felt nothing. Then all I thought about was that I needed to work even harder to keep those 6 figures.

As my company grew, I failed to grow the proper infrastructure to support that growth. I had no systems, no accountability for my team, no hiring, training or marketing strategy. Basically, I was just winging it…which worked for a while…until it didn’t. I was running myself into the ground, sacrificing family and friendships along the way.

Then I decided I had to make a change. I knew I had to learn through a combination of curiosity, passion, a growth mindset, and the right tools to optimize the systems I needed to allow me to work smarter, not harder in my business.

Today, Pilates in the Grove generates over 7 figures annually.

Even during a global pandemic, we were able to remain financially solvent and keep our doors open (and employees working).

Now, the business no longer revolves around me, allowing me to spend more time with my family and friends. I am successfully working “on” my business rather than “in” my business AND I am so proud that Pilates in the Grove provides lucrative career opportunities for our growing roster of employees. And I do mean lucrative…

But I didn't stop there.

I realized that I had more to do. I realized that I just had to share the wonderful lessons and experiences I’ve had with all of you. So, I finally mustered up the courage and drive to launch my first business mentorship program for people who were just like me. So I keep growing my community of women who are ready to roll up their sleeves and turn their dream company into reality.
